Bears, Bows & Big Salmon Whether you a first time Alaska visitor or an experienced veteran, this is a trip that you will remember forever. While in remote Southwest Alaska , you will experience three of Bristol Bay's premiere locations: The Naknek River , The Kvichak River & Katmai National Park/Brooks Fall. The Naknek River offers world-class angling opportunities at trophy rainbow trout, arctic char, grayling, northern pike, lake trout, dolly varden and all 5 species of salmon including kings, silvers, sockeye, chum, and pinks. The Kvichak River is known to have the largest rainbow trout in the world. When you consider that these rainbow trout can exceed 30 inches and 20 pounds, and are still capable of such aerobatics, you realize how incredible these fish are. All 5 species of salmon including kings, silvers, sockeye, chum, and pinks are also available at certain times of the season. While visiting Brooks Fall, located in the world- famous Katmai National Park , you will experience wildlife that will take your breath away. Brooks Fall is world renowned for the incredible brown bear viewing opportunities. The majority of the TV programs featuring Grizzly bears in Alaska were filmed in Brooks fall. An additional option while visiting Brooks Fall is to take a guided bus tour in the Valley of 10,000 smokes. The Valley of 10,000 Smokes is the site of the world's largest volcanic eruption this century. The plane ride into these locations is worth the cost alone. The Bristol Bay region offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Make sure you bring lots of film! While visiting any of the three locations, your chances of seeing additional wildlife such as Grizzly bears, wolf, caribou, and moose is always a possibility.
